Neighborhood character
LAFD requires owners in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone to keep native brush, weeds, grass and trees cleared within 200 feet of structures and 10 feet of combustible fences and driveways. Grass is cut to 3 inches, trees over 18 feet keep foliage at least 6 feet off the ground, branches stay 10 feet from a chimney outlet, and roofs keep 5 feet of vertical clearance. Clearance cannot be done on red flag days.
County Public Works says debris basins sit at canyon mouths to catch sediment, gravel, boulders and vegetation washed out in storms. Clean-outs can take from two days to several months, and the dump trucks use local streets as haul routes.
Homes & property types
Single-family homes on sloping, often large lots; driveways, retaining walls and access vary street by street.
What makes properties here different
