Neighborhood overview
Old Town Monrovia is in Monrovia, California. The original downtown plot around Myrtle Avenue, between Palm Avenue and Olive Avenue.
The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group paid $12,000 for the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation to survey the area, and received the survey report in June 2025. On December 16, 2025 the City Council considered a $20,000 reimbursement agreement with the group for the National Register application, with a decision expected around March 2026. Confirm the current status before you rely on it.
The City Council agenda report of December 16, 2025 describes the National Register survey area as the eight blocks bounded by Palm Avenue on the north, Olive Avenue on the south, Primrose Avenue on the west and Ivy Avenue on the east, including properties on both sides of each boundary street.
Homes & property types
The survey area holds many of the city's oldest commercial, governmental and institutional buildings, according to the agenda report, from the Keefer Building of 1886 at 424-426 South Myrtle Avenue, the oldest surviving commercial building in the city, to City Hall at 415 South Ivy Avenue, dedicated April 10, 1954. Read the product type of any home from the building itself.
What makes properties here different
A sale here can involve mixed-use rules, historic-landmark questions or a commercial neighbor. Those are facts about the property, not a citywide story. A citywide median does not price an Old Town parcel.
Living in the neighborhood
City Hall sits on Ivy Avenue, the survey area's eastern edge, according to the agenda report.
